Hey guys, I have a question
I haven't posted in a while, been really busy. Just read some of that big thread... wow. Anyway I have a question for the experts and enthusiasts.
I was recently talking hypothetical situations and came across a bump in the road.... Is is possible to fit a 514.1 cubic inch Viper V-10 in the hood of my 99 Cobra? I am just curious. My battery is already in the trunk because of my aftercooler.. so that is some space. So.. would it fit? Could you see over the hood? haha. I was talking about making the ultimate sleeper and just randomly choose the viper v-10.... I guess if it did fit, my blower would be out of room, right? Just curious if anyone knows. This will not happen, but it just kinda came up in conversation, so don't flame me for wondering please. Thank you very much guys! Scott |

"Anything will fit anywhere if you throw enough money at it." - Eric.
That's what one of my hot rod buddies says anytime I ask him a hypothetical question like this. As far as I can guess, the v-10 block is too long to fit in there. I wouldn't WANT a blown v-10 in that car, much less hope it would fit. I haven't seen the triton v-10, but that is only 414 or so stock. It might fit, and with a cam, some bore/stroke, be a really unique sleeper. I would look into some of the off the wall motors Ford has lying around. Seems like there woudl be more chance of it fitting. Unless you want to stretch the front end ala FR500. Then it might just work.

Awesome...that's just awesome...
I'm not gonna say no, b/c until a couple of weeks ago, I never imagined a lightning engine in a stang...but they made it fit, blower and all. I could see it fitting, if you tore everything out and mounted the radiator sidways--oh wait...fenderwell there...hmmm...you could may put it, well hell...outta smart ideas. I dunno, but if you decide to go for, make sure and post some pics.

I thought the Viper V-10 was 488ci? You could always put the Ford Racing 514 in there (stroked big block Ford V8)...
A Viper engine would definitely make it fast, but I don't know about mixing the two breeds of snake (Mopar and Ford). Guess I'm just a Ford purist.

I've seen ppl drop in LS/T1's in late 80's Datsuns...I'm sure somebody could make it fit. That would a bad A'ss snake combination...I'm still lost on the 514 cu in.
8.0L = 488 cu in. 8.3L = 505 cu in.

I'm not totally sure what the cubic inches were. I just said something in the ball park of what I thought was the v-10. I'll have to check. I was just trying to get an idea of what would fit. So, I guess if a 514 would fit, then a 505 would too

The confusion is probably because my friend and I were speaking of the Hennessey Venom 650R engine. Didn't realize they were so different than the stock. I guess the 514.1 my friend told me was the actual number, just not the stock viper numbers

Well, if you have enough money to put a Venom 650R motor in there you might as well just have someone build you a Pro 5.0 motor with alot more power.

I realize how unrealistic this is. That's why I said it won't happen. I was just curious if it would fit, for s**ts and giggles.
I really appriciate your responses!
