Hi-Flow Cats - Need Advice!
 

I have a 2.5" off-road H-pipe laying around and am thinking of purchasing a couple of high flow cats and welding them in this H-pipe to replace my factory 2.25" pipe on my Cobra. Does this sound reasonable? I can get 2 hi-flow cats for around $150. It will be a good bit cheaper than buying a new H-pipe with cats. My biggest concern is placement - I think the converters have to go in between the O2 sensors, is this right? And also, will using only one cat per side set the check engine light? I'm not sure how the EEC uses the signals from the 4 oxygen sensors, maybe someone out there in the know can shed some light on it.

Just stick with the off road h-pipe unless you have emissions, it really makes the car sound alot better and you gain some serious HP on the top end with that high revving motor.

Or if you're set on the cats, sell that H pipe and get the entire Hi Flow BBK system. You will rest easy, less work, and only end up spending about $75- $100 more (considering you get a reasonable price for the old one) for an entire new system without all the welding work and worrying about the engine light. I have heard BBK's hi flow system. I think it sounds as good as it gets if you have to use cats.

Will the BBK cat H-pipe set the check engine light or will I need MIL eliminators?

i've tried the offroad h pipe and it does sound good but the bassani Xpipe w/cats made more power and torque but was quieter. i think the 4.6 needs a little more backpressure than the 5.0

Right now I am leaning towards an H-pipe, simply because I have heard it adds a little more torque than an X-pipe, and my 4.6 4V could use a little more low end. Also is it true that the X-pipe has a higher pitch than an H-pipe?

trust me bro, the X pipe makes more torque from my experience. on the 4 valve, this is the way to go.
