Lightbulb 2003 Mach 1

i wanted to get everyone's opinion on the new and upcoming Mach 1. It sounds good and all but do you think it is going to be work getting? any ideas what the price might be?

I am thinking of selling my GT for the Mach 1 if it is going to be worth it.

Actually,
In my situation, I would prefer the Mach 1...

I think the Mach 1 looks a bit better... Its cheaper to buy and for insurance...

And it has a live axle instead of an independant rear... (Much better for those crucial launches...)

Don't get me wrong, the Cobra is one bad mama jamma, but if I were going to buy a new car to mod a bit and play with on the straightaways.... the Mach 1 would be my choice.

The Mach 1 is just BEGGING for a blower...

Lowersill,

Any new car is a loss! But a new car you "love" and are happy with is worth the money. You only live once and if you worry about the financial part you'll be driving a 76 pinto. I've owned more hot rods etc than I can remember, but never came out on top financially for owning any of them. If you like and want the Mach 1 go for it. Is it worth the money for what you get? hardly ever, that is why they make aftermarket parts! Price range may be low to mid 30's depending on extras. Personaaly I'm getting the 03 Cobra in July. Keep it for a year or so and sell it and move on to the next hot rod. When you finally realize that cars are a financial losing proposition you can sleep better at night.

Good luck and Haul Azz!

I love it so much I asked it to Marry me! I'm going to trade my 2000 GT "Tina" in for the Mach 1. Has to be Red or Yellow though.

The Mach 1 will take the previous Cobra's place in the price range. So figure high 20's, maybe 28-29K. I don't think its going to get into the 30's which is a good thing.

You guys may think I'm crazy for saying this but I think the MACH 1 is better than the '03 Snake in every way except horsepower. It's got a live axle. No IRS! It's set up for drag racing which is what I'm into. Not autocross like the Cobra. Plus the MACH 1 has the old school flair that the Cobra lacks and it's $5000 cheaper.

I like the fact that they are going to be limited and I am the one that always has the 'different' car. The MACH 1 would definitly fit that description. I just wish that I could ride in one before I buy one but the dealers around my house don't even stock a lot of mustangs to begin with.

i mught have to travel to see one.

Order one, then drive it. Just 'cause you ordered it doesn't mean you're obligated to buy it if you don't like it. My dad ordered an '02 F-150 but changed his mind and changed some options an ordered another one. Thank you Ford for finally putting a live axle behind the 4V again! Long live stick axles! IRS=WHEELOP & NO TRACTION!

Default Mach 1

I saw it at the New York auto show..It will be available in auto also..I just think it will be more of a collector car then the Cobra .If too close in price to the Cobra? The Cobra at Sticker price of 34.750 is a better deal.

It will be much cheaper than the new Cobra. It is supposed to be in between a GT and a Cobra. It will be about the same as the old Cobra with a base price of $28,000-$29,000. LIke the Cobra as always, there won't really be any options to order because it's already fully loaded (unlike the F-Bodies where EVERYTHING is an option!). I'll take mine in Dark Shadow Gray.
