higher octane?

I recently read an article on the different octane gases and which is the best for your car. I never gave it much thought until I read it but has anyone tried the 100+ octane that Sunoco sells, or antone sells for that matter. I just wanted to know if it was worth the cost for a mildly modified Cobra. Maybe one of you guys have tried it already. Any inputs would help!

The octane rating is only a measure of the gasolines' resistance to knocking (read detonation). Most regular pump gas will suit all but supercharged or high compression motors. 100+ octane is not necessary or beneficial for mostly stock motors running the stock timing. If you were to increase the compression ratio, supercharge, or advance the timing on your stang, only then would it be necessary to consider using a higher octane gasoline. I hope this answers your question.

Yeah, they mentioned it was all about the compression ratio. Thanks.

Hey Cobrayankee, how do you like your 3.73s? I am having some put in mine next week. What are you rpms at 60 MPH in Fifth?

Thanks.
