because the 93-95 Cobras used the same engine as the GTs, the 96-present Cobras use a 4-valve engine while the GTs use a 2-valve engine. Not sure but I believe the Bullitt intake is a 2-valve. Might want to give it a try.

and with all the SOHC 4.6 guys that want fake cobras im kind of glad this product isnt offered, if you dont have a cobra you dont need to make it look like one, not saying you are and i can see where you might want performance benefits of one, but there are too many fake cobras around here and im getting angry at them.

Default Cobra Manifold

yYour absolutely right..Sorry for jumping back at you..it was not deserved. Your original question on the forum board did ask" how come the don't make a 96-98 cobra manifold you can buy as aftermarket?" You can get an aftermarket manifold for your Gt that will give you a great jump in rwhp,

I wouldn't waste the money on a new intake at this point. You are probably going to spend at least 1500+ between parts and install.

Have you gotten shifter, gears, TB, MAF, pulleys, etc...? If you are looking to do something big, I would do heads before intake mani.

It's a lot more, but heads are a much better HP to $$ ratio than an intake manifold. Getting heads is the best thing you can do to make that GT more comparable (performance-wise) to that Cobra you wish it was .

96-98s get tough to mod after a certain point. Like Hammer probably realized, there is a point where you pretty much have to go all out. Intakes are way overpriced, but if you want to get a supercharger (or any other FI), you need a new one because otherwise, the plastic one will be blown to bits. Then you can't get a supercharger w/ heads because the compression will be too high.

My friend has a 98 GT 5sp and he is looking to sell for a 94-95 Cobra (with low miles). He got frustrated with the idea of having to spend $8200 (suprcharger, heads, intake) where I could spend less than $3500 and get the same parts with the same or better performance gains. Not to mention that he couldn't run that combo without more engine modifications.

Sooooo, if you love your car, keep it... just don't spend all that $$ for an intake (My upper and lower cobra intake cost me a total that was in the high 300s.) Get all the little things, then maybe if you are going heads or supercharger you can get it.

Just my $.02

Thanks,
DoranW

Tell me about it, everyone is always asking me is that a real cobra?

It makes me sick. There are lots of slow GT's around here with cobra emblems. If you want a cobra buy one, to me people with fake emblems on there cars are ricers.

That's no joke. If I posted the amount of headaches getting to where I am now would fill up about 10 pages.
In most respects, the best possible routes for 96-98 GTs is to either:

1. Go with a roots type blower, which replaces the intake...
(Bolt it up to a stock setup and go)

2. An N/A setup with 99+ PI heads and a bullit intake

3. The expensive but most flexible route. Motorsport heads and Motorsport intake. Compression is good for blown applications and the engine breathes NICELY.

glafd someone else calls them ricers too, i see one every morning, it makes me angry at them all day...best part is it has the gril land side emblems on a 94-95 body but has the normal v6/gt front fascia, thats a shitty fake cobra.

I agree. Couldn't have said it better, Hammer.
I opted for the first option and been more than happy.
