How do I get rid of PATS on 98GT

It shuts off the fuel pump everytime. This is the second time this damn thing has triggered for no reason and forced me to call a tow truck to take it to the dealer.

Hey sorry to here about your problem. Please explain the details. Does this happen in the moring or after you've been driving for a while

The first time it happened was when I stopped the car to vacuum it out in July(very hot out). When I finished vacuuming the car refuesd to start. I took it to my favorite speed shop to have it fixed. They ran codes on it and found out it was the alarm causing the fuel pump to shut off. They told me only the dealer had the equipment to reset the theft system.

This time the car died as I was driving down the road. It was 12:00 at night and about 50 deg F. This time I thought the fuel pump had actual died and I replaced it. No luck!! The damn theft light started blinking again. Well the car was towed to the dealer again.

The factory alarm is a real POS. I hope there is some way to disable it.

I think you can just pull the fuse. Unfortantly my Haynes manual doesn't say which fuse that is.

well, i install alarms and stuff for a living and the ONLY way to get rid of it is to install a bypass module, dei part no. 555F
you can get it at a circuit city or best buy, or most auto security places. they can instal it for about $30, it is very hard to install yourself unless you have exp. in that field.
there is no fuse for it either it is built in to the ignition system.

if you want to install it yourself, i can e-mail you the wireing diagram with all the right ford wire colors in your car, its not to hard.

I just bought a '98' GT. I beleive it has a factory anti theft alarm. However I can't activate it. Now I wonder if this is why. How can I tell if it has one?
