How many horse's do I have?

I just went out and bought a 96 GT and I don't know anything about it. Before this car I had a 96 camaro SS, but after some weird circumstances I ended up with a Ford. I'm not complaining incase it sounded that way and I like having a convertible. If anyone can just tell me how many horsepower I have to start with I'd really appreciate it. I also have a feeling it isn't very much cause I feel a big drop off from the SS, so any advice on what I should go out and buy for it first to boost it up?

Stock at the flywheel you have 215 ponies on the ground you have between 175 and 185 ponies. This is just stock.

You have 215hp stock, and are most likely running 14.9-15.2 in the 1/4 mile. Your SS would smoke this car, but you can do a LOT to the motor to help out. First, you should put some sort of catback/x-pipe combo on, and at the same time, a K&N air filter. Next, the intake you have on that thing is a TICKING TIMB BOMB...it will explode. The 96-97 intakes are plastic, and are weak, and will eventually crack and cause a huge hassle. Therefore, I'd say to save up and do the 99+ Head, intake, cam swap, in which you get the heads, intake and cam from a 99+ GT, and put them in your engine. You will get better performance by a mile, and you'll take care of the intake problem before it occurs. When those parts go on, put some underdrive pulleys in, and for the rear end, maybe a steeper gear, like 3.73. With all that, you should be good to go, power wise. Good luck, and keep us posted.

my first mods would be the 99+ heads and intake. then gears.
