Ya, I've heard that, too. What's the difference b/w the 96-98's and the 99+'s??? My friend has a 2000 mustang, and everything in it seems the EXACT same except the body panels. Did they do any engine modifications to the newer models?

A 99+ GT has 35 more horsepower on you bone stock, and 45 more on a 96-97 GT. Im not exactly sure why, but it has a large part to do with the heads being MUCH better on the 99+ GT's.

The reason that the 99+'s like steeper gears than the older 4.6 GT's is they make peak horsepower at a higher rpm (I think 5200 rpm due to better airflow and different cams), so more gear gets them into the power band and keeps them there better as you go through the gears.

the 99's up have better flowing head's that's why 96-98 do the 99 up head swap

Cool...!
Are the 40 series 2-chamber the same as the Flowmaster American Thunder? (Or do I have my manufacturer mixed up?) I'd like to get the same thing for my car as soon as I'm done with my suspension. And this is just mufflers, right? No X-pipe, cat-backs or tips... right? Just curious... Thanks. |
