Post I might be crazy but....

I just sold the Ford Motorsport intake and heads from my garage that I was planning to drop in next month and put the cash down on the Procharger P1SC stage 2 kit with 3 core intercooler.

After doing the math on what I've spent on the motorsport pieces, how much cost and time it would take to put them in, and upgrade the Zex with a bottle blanket and remote bottle opener, too many zeros after dollar signs and work hours spent started piling into my head. All for an increase of 70 horses at the crank without the small Zex shot.

So...
The stage two kit will be sitting in my engine bay by the end of February, while I get it ready for the show/strip season. (I'm going to have to get 2 wheels repaired due to my wife's "curb strikes" also)

We're guesstimating a net output of well over 300 hp to the wheels.... all without having to fill a bottle! The Zex will be removed February 1st, so if anyone is interested in getting it at a decent price, let me know...

What do y'all think?

Hey, great deal! How much boost you plan on running?

What heads and intake did you sell anyways?
They were really gonna give you 70hp at the crank? + the 75 of the Zex thats about 360hp?

300rwhp w/ the blower is about 340hp... but you don't have to fill a bottle so thats a lot nicer too.

Good deal, I can't wait to see what you run at the track.

You think you'll get 300 rwhp? How much boost are you planning on running? 125 hp is a lot.

Keep us posted on how it goes. I have already gone the route you are abandoning and I ended up with 344 HP at the wheels with 2V P/P heads and a 75 HP shot of ZEX. Good luck.

Cobrazex,
You got 344 hp at the wheels with the heads and the Zex? That's darn good...

I hate magazine racing, but here is how I figure it:
Old set up:
Base: 225 hp
heads and intake gain: 70hp
Zex gain: 75hp
-15% drivetrain loss= 314 hp +\-15%

Procharger set up:
Base: 225 hp
Procharger at 10psi: 149 hp (est.)
-15% drivetrain loss= 318 hp +\-15%

Essentially the same gain for a bit less money and trouble to install and no worries about filling the bottle and bottle pressure.

The P1SC is getting a lot of press and good numbers compared to other blowers on the same amount of boost.

I sent away for some more info on the procharger before committing, and the real-life numbers given were astounding.
With slicks and 3.73s, a stock 97 GT (215 hp) went 14.17@93.8...
with the procharger at 10 psi, the same car ran 12.46@109.3
Granted, even with slicks a 14.17 quarter mile for a near stock geared 97 is a little too good, but the increase in performance is duly noted)

I spoke to several performance shop mechanics and they echoed the same numbers. While some still favored Vortech, they admitted that the numbers they have seen from the P1SC were impressive.

91LX, I'll probably be letting the Zex kit go for 300 dollars to MW members only. Anyone else who asks, the kit will be 350...
The only thing it will be missing is the nitrous line from the bottle to the engine bay.
I still love the kit, but I just get on it too much, and I'm tired of messing with the bottle.

Hmmm... How much is that kit new? How much $$ is that line I'd have to replace? I wonder how that kit would work on my Cobra...

Rbatson,
The kit new is almost 500 dollars.
The nitrous line would be extremely inexpensive and can be picked up at any auto performance store.... I would "guess" 10-30 dollars.

As far as how well it would work on your Cobra, how would you like an extra 50 to 60 hp at the rear wheels when you hit WOT?

It's a good kit that is as safe as N2O kits are going to get...
