idle problem

Hi all

just recently i added my bosch +4 plugs to my car now my car kinda skips at idle and in the 1500-2000 rpm range could this be my fuel pump or maybe a bad coil pack or wires ,i don`t remember this happening before the plug change but it could have been there i realy don`t want to put the old plugs back in to see if it does it then, it`s a pain in the arse to change the plugs on the 4.6 what are your thoughts and suggestions i checked all the hoses and connections they are all secure:confused:

have you looked at the exhaust color on a slow raise of the RPMs? see if the smell is more pungent or less so. it could be that you have a bad plug that is not always fireing, or maybe not enough juice to make it burn. cant go wrong with a new coil and spark amp.

I have the same problem, I also replaced my wires with FRPP's.
I did notice a stronger pull above 2000 RPM's though. I'm going to do a little research before I return them. (Platinum +4's)

Let me know if you come up with anything further, email @

Is yours especially bad at 1200 RPM's?

I'm waiting for a response from BOSCH.

It's the plugs...

sent you a e-mail forgot to say it skipped at idle and 1500-2000 rpm range

I replaced my BOSCH Platinum +4's with NGK TR55IX (replaced the TR55VX) and the difference was phenominal...to say the least.

In other words...DO NOT USE THE PLATINUM +4's...for some reason of which BOSCH could not explain, the plugs were not firing correctly with the amount of volts supplied by the stock EDIS coils (my explanation as well as Badyeller).

Sent the BOSCH's back for a full refund....IM HAPPY NOW!!

FYI, NAPA auto parts are a main supplier of NGK.

i returned the plugs and traded them form regular bosch platinums and the problem is fixed the car runs better now than when i bought it do noy use +4`s in your mustnag at leaast with stock coil packs

I am suprised about that... I have a 1998 GT with stock coils, and I have been running the Q4's (+4) since I got the car, I have never had a single problem with them, when I change them they are always the color they should be, I get incredile mileage on it, and I still have all the power I should be making. I used to run these same plugs in my truck, but that had a full MSD setup on it.... Anyways, I haven't seen any issues with my plugs on this car...
