Smile Ignition Knock Sensor 01 4.6 2V

Can anyone tell me if the 2001 Mustang GT 4.6 liter engine has a knock sensor. I'm trying to determine if the electronics will adapt to a higher octance if I buy it or if I am just wasting my money?

My Z28 Camero (prior car) would continually advance timimg until it found knock so for it a higher Octance definitely made a big difference. Recomended Octane for it was 91. The Mustang as you know is 87.

There are no knock sensors on the GTs. Only the cobras have them. I added one to my car with the DFI to aid in the tuning process, but I don't think you could add one and set it up to work with the stock computer.

Thank You. This is what I thought. No use buying the 100 Octane gas they are starting to sell around here for a stock GT.
