Post Losing Traction....

I have a '99 GT, Automatic, no major mods just K&N Filter and Flows. I have stock tires on it, they are 225/55/16. My question is when I am going about 10-15 mph and I punch it the car kicks sideways really bad and then straightens out, at that point the tires are not squealing. I never recall the car doing this before, this just starting happening about 1 month ago. I plan on purchasing new tires as soon as I get the money. Is this normal for the car to do this or does it sound like a traction problem that needs to be looked at?
Thanks, Beth

Cool

It's a combination of the tires getting worn and 260 ponies at the crank!

(You should see my rear end wander when I get on it... )

If you put new tires on and the problem is reduced and/or eliminated, I wouldn't worry about it....

You should add a vortech to the mix and see what happens.

Hit it in first....spin...slam second....still spinning....slam 3rd....spins for about 2 seconds then finally catchs.

But guys isnt it fun to do =))

Now, why can't i find a nice girl with a GT that likes to spin the tires up???

I had the same size of tires as you, I made the mistake of buying 245x17 because they hardly help. Like "HAMMER" is saying to much power in the rear end. Installing 3:73 gears makes it worth.
Right now I am planning on leaving the front tires but get couple of wide @ss for the rear maybe NITTO 555R or MIKEY THOMPSON.
I spend thousands of dollar trying to fix this problem by changing the whole suspenssion but so far far the tires still spinn like hell.
Let me know if you find the cure.

Cool

Is it bad enough to activate the traction control? I mean, are you all over the road?

I agree with Hammer, sounds like the tires just finally got broken in! And personally, I can't wait until mine break in enough so I can do what you do!
