I have a 1996 Saleen Mustang S281 and would like to replace the throttle body.. However, I have several questions

	1) What's the stock throttle body size on the 1996 GT? People have told me that it's 56mm. If this is the case, would a ported/polished MAC 70mm increase my hp and improve my throttle response? 2) How much should one pay for a new 70mm throttle body (ported/polished)? The power on my Saleen isn't there. If one was to dyno the car, between 1500-3000rpm, the curve would a steady incline but then, shoot up like a bat out of hell around 3500rpm. How do I get the curve to be a continuous incline? I want all the power to be there instead of this hesitation-crap. Thanks MIke ------------------ 1996 Saleen S281 #1 - Bassini X-pipe, MAC underdrive pulleys, MAC Mass Cold Air, NOS |

Stock should be 65mm which is more than enough for a 96-98 GT. It can support plenty of horsepower. There are people with 99-01 GT's that lost power with a bigger throttle body. Usually most 99-01 guys don't change out the throttle body till they put a blower on the car.

I've seen the MAC throttle bodies as cheap as $140 but remember unlike the FRPP throttle body it does not come with the TPS sensor it has be swapped over from your stock unit. ------------------ 00 GT, MAC Offroad H, Steeda Pulleys & Timing Adjuster, C&L 80mm, 4.30’s, Flows w/turndowns, UPR shifter, UPR Pro Series LCA’s, Lakewood 70/30’s & 50/50’s, 253.8 RWHP/292.8RWTQ Best ET 12.91 Best MPH 105.49 M/M 100, 7085 2001 Mod Motor Shootout 2V NA Champion |
