Default Mass air flow differences!?

I am recently in process of converting a 2000 mustang v6 to a v8. I need to know what the differences are for the mass air flow sensor from a 1996 gt and a 2000 gt. If the connector plug is the only difference, can i simply transplant the pigtail? Any help is appreciated! thanks!
