Why not just get the lincoln navigator motor?? Randy Haywood of True Blue Performance has one in his Outlaw 10.5 Car and the internals are basically stock. He has a huge amount of boost running through it and such and he runs 8.2? at around 169mph!!

I have a buddy with the Lincoln Mark VII. Really nice car. It has the 4.6 DOHC engine. But I believe that the intake is different, the computer is different, and so are all the internals (not as strong as the Cobra).

Personally I wouldn't get a cobra motor for my GT. The whole coil on plug thing worries me. I don't want to pull my valve covers if(when) I burn up a plug. Maybe its just me, but if the 2v heads work for saleen, I'm all right with them.

Besides I hears Clay Smith Engineering is working on some cams for the 2v motors. Can you say, "Sweet?"

sweet

now all I need is $
I raced some guy in a 01 GT tonight, and man that thing was quick (Not as quick as mine) He said he had an extra set of ported heads that would fit my car, he wanted $1400 for them, is that a good price, I don't think they were used. I' guessing that's just the stock heads with a port job, right? There's no after market heads for the 4.6, right?
Anyways, if I had the $ I would have taken him up on it.
I would be interested in a cam though.

Some of the Mark VIII's will surprise you, but as stated earlier, the engine is not the same as the Cobra motor.

You don't have to pull the valve covers on the cobra motors to change plugs it's just as easy and changing them on a 2v motor. There are 5 or 6 compaines currently that already have cams available for 2 and 4v motors.

Your right Bill, but changing the plugs on the Cobra motor is even easier than getting to the plugs on the 2V motor!

Actualyl I was reading specs and the diffence in horsepower is 30 less in teh lincoln mark 8 LSC and 40 less in regular mark 8.

As for those diffrences that really isnt that big of a deal as i woudl realyl replace most of the components anyway.

Do they have aftermaket heads adn intakes for these motros yet i fnot oyu knwo someone has to be working on them.

4.6 Cobra Specs ('98) -
DOHC V-8
Valve train: 4 overhead camshafts
Valves 32 (4 per cylinder)
Pistons: Full floating alloy
Connecting Rods sinter forged with fracture split ends
Crankshaft: Forged steel
Cylinder block 6-bolt main
Extras: camshafts are more aggressive, improved oiling system
'98 HP & TQ: 305 HP @ 5,800 rpm, 300 lbs.-ft. of torque @ 4,800 rpm

4.6 Lincoln MVIII Specs ('98) -
Engine: DOHC V-8
Valve train: 4 overhead camshafts
Valves 32 (4 per cylinder) 32 (4 per cylinder)
Pistons: Standard
Connecting Rods: Standard
Crankshaft: Standard
Cylinder block: 6-bolt main
Extras: EEC pin outs are different
'98 HP & TQ: 290 HP @ 5,750 rpm, 295 lbs.-ft. of torque @ 4,500 rpm

Difference in power can mostly be found in heads/intake. Both have dual bore TB, but the MK8 has a longer runner intake vs. the shorter runner of the Cobra.
There is a lot of power to be had in the Mark VIII with a good exhaust and intake setup, and a properly tuned EEC. I'd also throw in some U/D pulleys, 4:10's, and an aftermarket driveshaft.
There are a lot of people working with MK8's:
