there is nothing wrong with nitrous in a way it is like a snake if you don't treat it with respect it will bite you in the *** . Your 97 has hypereutectic pistons and a 9:1 compression run 93 octane and a 75-125 shot and you should have no problems. Remember nitrous doesn't ruin pistons detonation does.

Wait, you're looking at the Zex system, or the NOS system? Those are two different brand names.

I have an NOS dry kit 150 shot and have had no probs yet.I suggest a inline booster pump and a adjustable fuel regulator. Also listen for detonation and check your plugs for signs of leaning out.Keep sprayin!!!!

NOS is a great power adder but I didn't see anything on your post about exhaust and a larger MAF. Have you messes with them yet?

The Zex kit is very simple although a bit more money. It is easy to install and it you really can't get crazy w/ it, only 75 shot at most, so blowing your motor isn't an issue. This is the kit I am thinking of going with.
If you go w/ something like the NOS kit, you can go up to a 150 as long as you provide the nesessary fuel and spark. squeezed96 sounds like the one to listen to one this set-up since he is running that set-up. ------------------ 1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Black w/ grey leather Ram Air w/ K&N, FMS U/D pulleys, FMS 9mm wires Soon: custom exhaust, custom burned "Inject tech" chip, trans-go shift kit, 28,000GVW trans-cooler No Longer own: 91 LX 5.0L 5 spd Red w/ black interior 2 chamber flowmasters, Bassani off-road X-pipe, MAC cold air induction, Kirban short throw, Heavy duty 3 core radiator, FMS 3:73's, Timing bump to 14 degrees, SRP billet racing pedals, Kenwood sound system |

Hey sqweezed, can you tell us exactly what your set up is? I, too, am looking for something like you have. Did you switch to 24 lb injectors? I think the 19s are rated up to 350hp. With the 150 shot it would be at 365hp. What's the inline pump you are talking about? Is that also called a Boost-a-pump? What fuel pressure and plugs are you using? How long have you been running the setup? What's your 1/4 et and mph? I've been thinking about the 125 setup so I don't go have to replace the injectors.

Ok here is what I got.I have the older styledry kit for the 5.0 motor almost the same minus the new tps switch.76/42 jets ,Autolite764 plugs no platinum crap they don'tlike hard driving.MSD inline 43gphpump you put it in the line coming out of the tank going to the fuel filter I wired it to come on with the stock pump I suggest running it to come on with the nitrous unless you don't mind the extra hum of a pump.Since no cars have the same tune up start with 45lbs of fuel pressure I have mine between 38&40.Italked to the tech dept at NOS and they said it didn't matter what pump you had in the tank you had to have that extra line pressure.I guess they don't expect an aeromotive complete fuel system under most street cars cause thats going in after the first of 2001. Idon't have any 1/4 times just 1/8 spining on bald nittos.8.20s at 86mph need to beef the rear up for the slicks on the bottle.Should go at least 12.60 with tires in the 1/4 I hope.
