Post Modular Shootout update

March 19, 2000
The Paxton/Steeda Modular Shootout purse was supposed to be released
this week. However again, as unexpected, we have continued to generate a lot of interest and are in a research stage for the first ever "Pro Modular class". This would allow any Modular Car to run 2 power adders, and "Race what you brung", all rules would be thrown out! This would also allow the Power adder 4v class to be more of a street geared class for cars running high 10's, low 11's and "smaller" blowers. Cars that run T trim, Novi 2000's, R trim, and YS trim's would have to run 6 rib belt setups and 3.5" reducers if they wanted to run the regular power adder 4v class.

Right now we are researching how many cars would be fit Pro Mod. If it fits, we will add it, then the purse will be released. Currently to our knowledge the cars that would be fit Pro Mod would be John Mihovetz's 2 cars, Joe Stewart, Bob Trinanes, Marc Walker, Joe Charles, Mike Murrillo,
Joe Mainero, Kevin Conn, and myself (who would enter, but would not be eligible to win) If anyone knows anyone else that would fit the class, please contact us at Modular Shootout headquarters ASAP.

Video tapes of the first Modular Shootout event are now available. See Joe Stewarts wheels up launches, John Gibsons jaw breaking 4v N/A run 11.3's, Rick Erdman and Reggie Burnette's 11 second Vobras, Jason Prichards 11.7 97 GT, Vickey Harts 12.5 98 Stock motored AOD Vortech car, and Jimmy Vaccaro's stock 99 GT run 13.0! 35 cars in all. Length of the tape is 58 minutes. Cost is $10 and covers shipping & handling and the cost of the tape. The proceeds go toward hired help for the event. Email modshootout@home.com for details.

Shootout coverage is in full force. Check out the May 2000 issue of 5.0 magazine to see highlights on
the first annual shootout. There are some great launch shots of Joe Stewart, Bobby Goodson, Rick
Erdman, and John Marroquin. Thank you Michael Johnson and 5.0 magazine for your support.

Again to recap, we have 5 different heads up race classes, a bracket class (top prize is a Novi 2000 supercharger), a Lightning truck class, and a car show. We have raised over $15,000 in cash and prizes so far. 92 Cars have prepaid so far and we are limited to 150 race cars, so spots are filling up fast. To preregister your spot and get in on all the Modular Madness go to http://www.modular4v.com/shoot.htm

Please visit the official web site and bulletin board for all the details at http://www.modular4v.com/shootout.htm, or call/email myself.

Hope to see you there!
