Default help please....need to beat camaro

Hi guys,

I have a 2000gt with basic mods(3.73, pulleys, F.I.P.K from K&N, TB and no cats w/ flowmaster).

The problem is that my best friend has a 2002 camaro ss 35th and he is going to get a head and cam package from car tech that will put him well over the 400 mark.

What i want to know is there any type of package similar that i can have done to compete with him. I am steering away from the nitrous or s/c. I just want engine to engine.

Thanks for any help.

Gerry

you're screwed.

Sorry, but unless you dropped a KB blower on the motor, your hurting for 400bhp.

You could get a DOHC 5.4 dropped in, they make about that much with the right tune. The 4.6 just doesn't have the aftermarket support to get that much power n/a yet.

the deuce is correct... we just cant compete with a SS, motor to motor.... they have a full liter on us, and not much with our aftermarket can assist with that....

best you could do is look into a bullit intake, see if you can get higher compression pistons, long tube headers, x-pipe, and some good mufflers (magnaflow do well for NA). but still you are going to lose.

only chance to go motor to motor is doing the same thing i listed above after dropping in a 5.4L modular with an altered cam and ported head. i know SHM and DSS do ported longblocks for the 5.4... and from there you SHOULD be close to 400 with the exhaust, bullit intake, the k/n intake and what not but that alone is going to run somewhere close to 7k for the engine and addons... then the labor...

seriously, best way to do it is to get a solid blower, like an ATI procharger, run 10 lbs of boost, get some fat long tube headers, short Xpipe then free flow mufflers like bassani... that should get you just around 375 to the floor and would give you a nice chance against the SS...

one other thing you gotta remember he paid a good deal more than you did for your mustang... he dropped another 5k+ on that car than you did... why not spend the same and catch up? unless you drop on a blower or pop in a 5.4L engine in there you just wont ever beat him.

If your car was a DOHC 32 V 4.6 it would be different. I know a guy putting down 400RWHP with a 99 cobra all motor.

No way your SOHC 4.6 could hang with a beefed up LS1.

With the modular motors forced induction is your friend

With 10 lbs of boost and a free exhaust, 375 rwhp might be a little conservative... He might actually see a bit more...

Here is his car.

Here is his dyno graph and mods. He only made 345 RWHP on motor and over 400 RWHP on a small shot of nitrous. I was a little off.

He ran an 11.57 last weekend with no cage and his rev limiter was cutting him off at 7 thousand rpms.

He just got a chip burned and now can turn 8 thousand rpm's and he is gonna spray a 150 shot.

I think he will hit 10's now.

I dont know what kind of cage he has but he must have something cause he is racing at fun ford weekend this weekend.
