My first run in with detonation....
Well, I was out running Yellowjacket last night. All was going well and I wasn't paying attention to my fuel state...
I got on it and at about 5000rpm I got my first taste of detonation, at the time I didn't know what it was. So I let it go back down to 2500 and got on it again... same thing. Except this time I monitored my fuel pressure guage.... I was definately going lean. Then it hit me.... detonantion! I checked my fuel and there it was: on Empty with the fuel low light staring me in the face.... I pulled in a gas station, filled my tank and ran her at idle for a while to make sure 'ol Yeller was OK. No vacuum leaks, no freaky idle... I lucked out. Thanks goodness I'm not running high boost. I guess you can call that a lesson learned. ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" Ricer 1: What the heck was that!? Ricer 2: I don't know. It looked kind of like a yellow SN95 Mustang. Ricer 1: Nah, fast SN95 Mustangs don't exist... Must have been a mirage or something... |

Hey Hammer,
Did the fuel low light just start on the '98 models? Or was it an option somehow on the 96-97's? Not a big deal, I just don't have one on my '96. ------------------ 66 Tahoe Turquoise Coupe Laser Red 96GT Ragtop 30 Years & 30 inches apart in the driveway! |

Wow!
Sounds like you got lucky Hammer. I'll remember that when my fuel gets low. "Detonation" scares me so bad..I cringe when someone mentions it. ------------------ 2K blown Electric Green GT ~370.8 HP/372.0 TQ~ Mustangworks, Girlscantoo's December "Mare of the Month" 95 Rio Red Cobra ~heads~cam~TB~MAF~gears~full exhaust... |

380rwhp! Damn thats nice, should propel you down into the 11's. Is that after all the tuning? How much did they gain you? And how much boost?
