viper race
First off I am 2-0 against vipers going into this race. One of the vipers I beat was stock one had head work and exhaust.
Round 3: I am at a local hot spot and a white 96ish RT10 pulls in. He had raced my friends whipple car earlier and had lost by a small margin. So we start to BS and I find out that he had the following mods: Ported and milled heads 544 lift cam Bigger TB w port matched intake Flow Tubes CAI Long tubes Borla catback. So we head out and do a 40 roll race, third honk and we are off. I pull him thru second and shift to third and he starts a slow pull thru third and fourth with me ending up at his back bumper at about 140. So there you have it I lost to a fully modded viper by a car, I have a 2.8 pulley waiting to go on and a NX kit I have been debaiting putting on. |
Re: viper race
I believe vipers have the top end game, but not all that great of 1/4 mile. The quarter mile is well over at 140 though.

Re: viper race
Cool.....running good. Get a real clutch in it, and get those 11 sec slips...:)

Re: viper race
Sounds like a good running Cobra. I've always wanted to run a viper after I swapped motors but haven't met up with any so far. How much boost are you making with the 2.93 pulley? I'm thinking a pulley swap is my next mod.
|
Re: viper race
Only 13.8 I plan to swap to a 2.80 very soon
|
Re: viper race
What brand pulley do you run? I'm trying to figure out what's best. I think I'll go with a 2.93 myself.

Re: viper race
I have a south florida no slip DUB setup. It seems to work pretty well, I use a UPR idler. I really like billetflows stuff and would love to do there four piece Idler (probably will this winter).
If you have not done a billetflow diff brace do it ASAP it will save you tons of headache with the rearend very cheap insurance ($169). |
Re: viper race
Damn Jeff, where are you out hitting 140? Sounds like a pretty stout car you've got there, its a shame you gave up on the coupe though.
You should bring that thing to the track sometime and line up with me. None of this 40mph roll crap! :D take er easy (and try not to kill anyone while street racing) -Drew |
Re: viper race
We have started running on major interstates (won't post but we can talk in pm) at like 2 in the morning. Not a car around its awesome you can even do dead digs! Its nice having good brakes it only take a very short time to do this not at all like the days of the coupe when you prayed for the brake gods to save you.
I will have it to the track once I get the new clutch in it. I am hoping for some very low 11's. |
Re: viper race
I'm actually running the solid axle out back so no need for the diff brace. I think I need to go to 31 spline axles though. I'm running 4.10s and I want to throw some slicks on it and take it to the track. I'm hoping to get deep into the 11s with some traction and a 2.93 pulley. It ran 12.5@116 on the street tires before with a 1.99 60-ft (stock pulley).

Re: viper race
Cool, I can't bring myself to go solid rear. I love the handeling and from time to time I go road racing (this weekend I am doing a porsche club of america event at putnam park).
|
Re: viper race
Mine is set up for roadracing rather than drag racing too with all the Maximum Motorsports stuff. The only advantage the independent rear has in handling over the solid rear IMO is on bumpy or uneven surfaces since the SN95 chassis was never designed for IRS.
I'm hoping to go to Texas Motor Speedway in October and run this thing on the Roval (Oval + 7-turn roadcourse). It's only $275 for (4) 25-minute sessions including instructors who critique and give pointers after each sesson. Compared to Infineon where I used to live that's dirt cheap. |
Re: viper race
Just got back this weekend from road racing it and it was awesome, nothing like passing porsches at the road course! I did have a problem sat. night though it blew a fuel line INSIDE the tank so the car died and I had to drop the tank and run new lines.

Re: viper race
So does that LFP Heat Exchanger work well? I know that some folks who don't upgrade the cooling have trouble with heat with more boost and long sessions on road courses.
|
Re: viper race
I did three half hour sessions in 95^ heat and the car did awesome except the last 10min or so of the last session the car lost some power dropping about 5mph maybe 10 on the back straight down to 125 vs 135. That beings said I love it.
