Thumbs up New clutch, new hood, new ET...

Since I had some problems with my clutch slipping at Bradenton I replaced it with a Centerforce Dual Friction disk and FRPP Heavy Duty Pressure plate. Also picked up a lift off hood in Bradenton that I had painted this past weekend. It dropped about 20lbs off the front of the car. Anyways I only had two passes tonight since I got there so late but my best pass of the night was a 12.91@101.93 with a 1.74 short time. Not sure what was happening with the MPH the traps seemed to be slightly off. On my previous pass I went 103.32 right off the freeway.

My short times were pretty bad because I had to remove my Aluminum LCA's. They were for a 96 Cobra and had the wrong size bushings in them causing them to move under pressure and effectively tearing one of my torque boxes. So now I'm running stock LCA's with no quad shocks or sway bar (a big no no!), which of course caused major wheel hop on launch.

The clutch works perfect, grabs nice in all gears even 4th hits the tires hard. I figure once I put in my new LCA's and get my short times back into the usual 1.65-1.67 range I should be able to get into the 12.8x's.

Conditions tonight were pretty good 73* and 76% humidity...well at least as good as it gets in Florida.

Nice!! Get those control arms on and see how much further you can take it! Also, I could be wrong, but Ive heard that Flowmasters dont give much of a performance gain. Do you think you'd benefit from different mufflers?

On our cars no. The stock mufflers flow really well as they are so changing them out makes very little to no difference except for sound. I know of a couple of shops locally and have only seen a 1-2 HP difference between most mufflers and to be honest that could be chalked up to a change in air temperature.

I may try a different Offroad pipe and go with an custom X pipe with the X in the front. This is how the Nascar pipes are and is suppose to create more power. Maybe do that and go with Dynomax bullet mufflers (lighter that flowmasters).

Mustang92 off hand do you have the part numbers for the clutch disc and pressure plate. I know that last year I could feel my clutch slip when hittn 2nd and 3rd. I'll be looking to chage the stock one out shortly.

Actually I don't. A friend of mine with a 90 LX bought this set up for himself and ended up going with a different set up so I just bought it from him. If you can find someone that has these same parts for a 5.0 it's the same for the 4.6L.
