Newbie 1/4 mile question
Here it goes. I'm looking at a '02 GT 5 speed coupe. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the cost involved with getting into the 12's? Again, I nothing about Stangs and the search feature wasn't too helpful.

Supercharger will get you there....
A Vortech Supercharger, 3.73 rearend gear and 2 '1/2 X-pipes should get you there. I'm at 13.0 with 2.0 60' times, which are mediocre. I've run 1.8 60' but at a 1/8 mile track. If I could get a little better at the track I know I would be in the upper 12's. If you want to guarantee the 12's being an average to poor driver (like my self) add on an intercooler to the Vortech and for sure you will be in the 12's. Oh you'll also probably need a set of drags slicks or drag radials.

exactly what I was looking for, thanks

Cost
No problem. I forgot to give you the prices for all my upgrades. I've listed this below and it includes full installation. Don't let my wife see this! I spend a little more on the gears because I wanted a certain speed shop to do it plus I wanted the speedo corrected. Same with my exhaust system. I had a full custom job done where the shop made the exhaust system for me with all stainless steel parts and I went with Magnaflow mufflers, which are a little more expensive. I thnk the best first mods are 3.73 gears and just mufflers ($200). For $500-$800 you will have a very noticable performance increase (from the new gears) and the mufflers will make it sound and feel like you're going even faster.
$3800 - Vortech S-Trim $900 - Full stainless exhaust (X-design) w/ Magnaflow mufflers $300 - Steeda Lower control $600 - 3.73 gears (including speedo calibrator) |
