Nitrous 4 96 cobra?
I have a 96 mystic cobra. I have finished all my suspension mods, but now I want to go faster. My buddy just bought a 2000 firehawk and kicked my butt. HELP!!! I installed an off road h pipe and K & N. Now I'm considering 373 gears and 125 hp shot of nitrous. Some have told me that the cobra can handle it and others have told me that it will blow a head gasket. Any info is appreciated.

etc. make sure it comes with a fuel safty switch, and a t-rex fuel pump(in line) Look at Chris Johnsons chip here on mustang works, it is o-som with nos , or blowers e-mail him with the set up you will have and he will set the chip to make your Cobra run, run, run. I would not run a blower or nos without a chip. hope this helps. later ------------------ |

Go with 4.10s for minimum gearing for your cobra. Don't even bother with 3.73s. You might even consider 4.30s depending on how much highway usage and your concern for gas mileage. Alot of cobra owners are going with the 4.30s. I would recommend a minimum of 4.10s.
I wouldn't go more than the 125 shot though you could probably even use a 150 shot but I'm not totally sure on that. NOS is alot of stress on the engine but the DOHC should be able to handle it as long as you have the engine and everything tuned properly (fuel delivery, pressure, etc.). 97 Cobra: I noticed you are from Joplin. I'm in Carthage. Welcome to the board. I noticed you just recently joined. I'm in Joplin alot, especially on weekend nights. We'll have to meet up some time. What does your Cobra look like? Maybe I've seen you around over there. There is only one other stanger from our area on here (that I know of), another buddy of mine from Carthage. Well hope to see ya around. ------------------ FOR SALE: 1996 Mustang GTS: 5-speed, K&N, removed air silencer, 3.73s, 49,000 miles. $11,000. http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?388 [This message has been edited by 96GTS (edited 11-02-2000).] [This message has been edited by 96GTS (edited 11-02-2000).] |

Just be very carefull with the tuning. Cobras almost never blow head gaskets. It usually goes the other way. (Piston)
But as long as you have plenty of fuel it will take it just fine. Personally I'd run a dry kit and tune it a little rich to be safe when spraying. As far as gears: They do wonders. I have 4.10s and with my other modificaitons I actually get better gas milage then stock. Since they are only about 5% different from each other, I would say go 4.10 or 4.30. |

Thanks guys, I will consider 4:10s. I drive the car sometimes on the highway. What rpm will the car be turning @ 75 mph? Have any idea what this will help in the quarter mile?
