NOS on a 98GT?
I'm wondering about the juice on my 98 GT. I drive it about two or three times a month, I work out in the field about 95% of the time. Anyway, what's the scoop? Damage? Brands of nitrous? Yea or nea?

you should be find with a 125hp shot or less.
Nitrous Oxide Systems, Nitrous Works, Nitrous Express, Edelbrock, ZEX, Venom(my fav, but MUCHO expensive), there are a lot of companies that sell quality products.

75 shot from what ....
From what I have been told and readed that with the rods and pistons in the 96 to 98 that 75 shot is the safest shot to go with , I have never run NOS on my stang yet , but I have been doing alot of research and thats what they say !
But anyone on here that is running NOS over 75 shot on the stock rod/pistons in a 96 to 98 Stang what system are you running and what if any problems have you had with your car ?????/ |

one of my buddies has a 97gt, (4.6) we hooked up the spray kit on it (45,000 miles) spraying it a 100hp shot, as soon as he shifted into 3rd gear the motor was done, he brought it in for WARRANTY WORK(lol) there was a huge chunk out of the number 1 cylinder, bent valves, it sucked the porcelin part of the spark plug into the hole and smashed it around, after the piston chunk broke the end of the plug. i would have to agree with you on that, i wouldnt spray more than a 75 shot. although some may get away with spraying much more, i wouldnt recommend it. the pistons they have put in stangs since 93 are junk (hyperutectic) i did the same thing in my 95 only i was spraying it a 175 shot. i have heard that if you put new pistons in the 4.6 that motor becomes basically bulletproof. i may be making the switch to 4.6 myself really soon.

Any reason, your going with a motor with less parts that is more expensive? If your going DOHC, ignore my last remark.

Stay with a 75shot if the motor is basically stock. Any of the above companies mentioned will be fine. As of the moment i like the zex kits. they really impress me. Pretty cheap too..Sniper has a pretty good kit out too. Run a good safe tune on it and you won't have any problems. Nitrous isn't dangerous..it's the user that's dangerous.

I have a 98 gt also. i have compucar kit on it. i had a 90 shot on it and had no problems at all. i have at least 30 shots on the motor when i had the 90 shot in it . i just recently put the 125 shot on it and haven't had any problems .i have about 10 shots on the motor with the 125 shot. but they say too put a bigger fuel pump on it because of the higher rpm the fuel decrease's.which is what i'm gonna do. when i put the bottle on the car i had about 45,000 on it the car now has 50,000.And every time i go to the track i haven't lost power. oh and also i have had two nitrous backfires too. the only thing i would replace if your gonna change parts in the motor is the crank, rods, intake and pistons.the really weak points of the motor is the crank and the intake.(plastic what was ford thinking).A cobra crank will fit in the 2v motor and they say it is stronger. NOS just came out with a new model for nitrous hookup they feed the nitrous under the injectors so no more puddling.
just my 02 cents |

BTW, nice car. I like the hood. A little light metal polish will clear those head lights right up.

That new nitrous kit is junk..It makes your injectors flow like CRAP as Josh said. Plus it puddles it in your intake like crazy. Stay with a basic nitrous kit and you'll be fine.

In my sig is a link to our Richmond, VA mustang club. We have a guy who runs Nitrous on his 98 GT. But he has every bolt on except headers, and heads&intake. He does not have a problem.
One mistake people make is not tuning the engine for nitrous. Get a timing adjuster, and a set of colder( 1 lower range) and set the nitrous on the 50 jet. You have to see how the motor accepts it before you strap on that 100hp+ jet. Hope this helps.
