Thumbs down Is it possible to pass a 96-98 4.6 gt engine off as a cobra somehow?read!

My friend took a 98 gt, bought the white face gauges, cobra steering wheel cover, cobra rims and all the badges, i mean if you didnt know it looks badass, but the gt engine remains, i havent talked to him in sometime but i tell people its a gt, people dont believe me, i mean he had the hood up and people were looking at it sayin its not a gt motor but it is!! I havent seen it since he changed all the parts but he even told me its still a gt he just covered it up good, how is this so??????? I mean if it was me which it never will be I'd get the mac cold air intake so it doesnt look stock but he said he didnt change the intake manifold, what the hell, i wanna go check it out but cant get ahold of him, grr anyone have a good idea what could be done??? thanks

There are two ways to do this.
1. Acutally put Cobra heads on it, since the dohc valve covers WILL NOT FIT.
2. Change the cover on the throttle body from the horse to the snake that was on the 5.0 intake.

The people telling you that it's a cobra motor dont' know what one looks like. Get a picture of the motor.

What a Poser..............That kind of S H I T pisses me off. If you want a cobra buy one.

To clone my cobra you would have to buy

Cobra wheels
Cobra breaks
Bumper covers
Hood
seats
floormats
steering wheel
emblems
4.6 DOHC 320HP beast

By the time you done all that why didnt you just buy a cobra to begin with.

Posers suck,

I am guessing he also bought the Brakes, the hood, the front and rear bumper? Just some of the things different than the GT. Also The intake on the Cobra looks totally different than the GT. The GT motor should have a horse on it and the Cobra well it has a Cobra on it. So he would have to somehow done what others can not and put a Cobra Intake on a GT. Most likly the person that saw it does not know there engines. I hope this helps.

I got to go with Duece and say that they have no clue what one looks like. You can not pass the engine off unless you totally rebuild it and make it a cobra engine.

its only a cobra if it came that way from the factory. all the money spent buying the gt then adding on the cobra emblems and such might be enough to just have bought a cobra to begin with.

putting cobra stuff on a gt is like putting gt badges on a v6. or slapping v-tech stickers on a garden variety grocery getting civic

If you can't look at an Engine in a Mustang that model, and tell whether it's a DOHC or SOHC, or whether or not it's a Cobra engine, then you don't need to be looking at it in the first place. The intakes are totally different, they sound different when they are on, just check a Chilton's manual, and you can see all the little tell tale signs of a "poser"

Its not a cobra unless it was built by SVT......There is a 2 second performance gap between his car and a cobra.

Loser!!!

The heads will still be a dead giveaway. I don't know why anyone would bother with the new intake on the old heads.

Wait wait wait, so he can buy the whole upper part, like the cobra manifold and all that and put it on a gt engine, i am lost like no other that doesnt make sense. Gt motors have the little horse, if he gets the Cobra Upper Plenum. Complete with Throttle Body, Stock Components and buy the lower manifold he could have like the snake emblem like on the picture i post above???
