Help with 96 Cobra Info

I was hoping you guys can give me a little help. im looking a buying a used cobra and it has 126,000 miles on it. It has been well taken care of. I was just wondering how long the 4.6 dohc motors are good for? I know how they are driven is a lot to do with it. This mustang it owned by an old retired man and its all original. I just don’t want to buy a car and it give out on me, and if there is anything to look out for on the 96's. Any info is greatly appreciated.

The 96 Cobras were/are a good car IMHO. I'd be leery about paying too much for one with 126,000 on the clock. I'm never seen one that high since most Cobra owners ginger them. Remember that this was a first model year so you can expect that there were some problems; check online for recalls and TSBs.

Congrats on your new purchase. How long before you start playing with it? I lasted a solid 24 hours. The day I took her home, we went to the local drag strip and wrung her out. The very next morning, she had a 4.10 gear, exhaust and a shifter handle, that after noon, she was on the dyno.

I guess what I am saying is, enjoy :D
