I was just wondering what kind of manual tranny my 2000 gt has?

white00GT 03-29-2001 08:30 PM

Your GT has a T-45 in it.

It isnt the extra gear thats great... its the fact that you can beat the s*it out of it and put ALOT of power through it w/o problems http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

If you can afford it I would seriously ditch the T-45. The synchros blew in mine at 19,000 miles, but it was not covered because my warranty had expired...

Name,
Really no matter what type of driving style you have you will want to get an aftermarket shifter. Good ones range less than $200 and it will improve your shift quality immensely. That's a good thing since the T-45 isn't altogether the strongest tranny. Benefits will be stronger, quicker, more positive shifts. Just something to think about.

I THINK THE TREMEK T-45 USED IN 99 AND UP STANGS MAKES WAY TO MUCH GEAR NOISE ESPECIALLY IN 5th, MORE SO THAN THE PREVIOUS BORG-WARNERS.

BUT, IT COULD BE JUST THE PRICE TO PAY FOR INCREASED STENGTH.

HOPE EVERYONE IN A NEW STANG HAS BETTER LUCK WITH THE CLUTCH THAN I DID. DAM THING MAKES A SH**T LOAD OF NOISE AT IDLE WHEN HOT AND MY FOOT OFF THE CLUTCH.

CAR WAS AT THE DEALER FOR 2 WEEKS AND CAME BACK JUST AS I LEFT IT.SAME NOISE.

Mustang92 03-30-2001 10:17 AM

For the record my original T-45 has 43K miles on it and over 300 abusive passes at the track some on slicks with no problems at all.
