2002 Mustang.

Does anyone know what changes will be made to the 2002 Mustang?

Has anyone seen a picture?

Out.

Pretty much the same a 2001, but I've heard that the hood scoop will be killed off. That makes 2001 the only year with a scoop.

A complete redesign in 2003. It will be based on the Lincon LS/Thunderbird frame

At Blueovalnews.com they have a report on all the new gizmos that will come on the 2004 Mustang. Things such as the Internet, and tracking devices.

This is a snipette from Motortrend online: the new 2003 Mustang GT and Cobra.

2003 Ford Mustang: The venerable pony car moves to the DEW98 rear-drive platform shared by the Lincoln LS, Jaguar S-Type, and Thunderbird. Expect the next generation to play heavily on heritage style cues. GT power is projected to be 285-290 horsepower, with the Cobra receiving in neighborhood of 350 horses from a new 5.0-liter powerplant. Insiders say Cobra may receive an F1-style sequential shifter.

Cobra may receive an F1-style sequential shifter

Doubt it!

I also heard that the Cobra may not go with the 4.6L 4V, and instead have a supercharged version of the 4.6L 2V. Can't remember where I heard it though...

Thanks for all the info.

I hate to see the hood scoop go. I hope they keep it even though it's a problem to get all the water out it after you wash it. Even though I don't have a 2001 I can easily imagine what happens after you wash it. My 2K's scoop appliqué holds water like a mother. Kind of makes you wish that it was set in sealant.

Anyway, I have mixed feelings about retro. Mainly, because I remember the "cutting edge" Mustang II.
I also didn't really care for the style that followed.

So, while I can see why some would want a new style, I think it's safer to stick with what works. If you change things too much, and "screw the pooch," then what?

In my opinion, the '94 styling decision to go back to the roots of Mustang and update that look saved the day. Camero, and Firebird got their asses kicked as a result.

So, I want innovation, but not at the expense of tradition.

Out.
