I have and their prices are ridulously expensive. I was seeking used parts from a private seller. ie I recently bought a 1997 cobra 3.08 traction lok rear end and quick ratio steering rack for $300.

You bought a what from who now?

Since 1993, Cobras have come with 3.27s standard. 3.27s are opional for GTs. But both GTs and Cobras use the same 28 spline Trac-Loc, and the same 28 spline axles. Other then people will try to rip you off, there is no difference in putting "Cobra" differentials and axles, differentials, 3.27s, or tie rods, or the GT counter part, on whatever. But I do believe the Cobras come with a lower ratio (tighter) ratio steering.

If you are looking to upgrade your axles and tie rods, then you need to look aftermarket. 31 spline axles/differential, and perhaps maximum motorsports (or similiar) tie rods and tie rod ends.

Just to clarify: There are some parts which are signifigantly different from GTs and Cobras, but the afore mentioned parts are not.

I understand your logic and knowledge. Perhaps I am mistaken about the gear ratio. However I saw the rolled cobra in his yard-what was left of it and the pieces were in his garage. He bought the car for the engine, tranny, wiring and computer for his 55 T-Bird. I am positive the parts are genuine 1997 cobra. He even had the dealer sheet so the steering ratio is 14.7:1. One axle was bent slightly and the tie rod end was also bent. The rearend housing is stout with the additonal torque shocks--connects frame to axle in addition to the standard stocks. The steering rack is returnable if not usable. I have also located a pair of cobra axles--28 spline for $95. My stang is a stock V6 and will for be for a little while. I thought that these upgrades would be a good start. What do you think?

Well, its not the normal starting point, but as long as you have the parts for cheap, why not?

The 8.8 in limited slip is much better then the 7.5 in non-limited slip you have now. Good luck!
