98 GT

I lose a lot of power when my a/c is on in the car. So much that I don't ever drive with the a/c on. The dang compressor comes on every 3-5 seconds, you can feel the jerking in the car when it kicks on and off. Everybody notices it, so therefore I feel something is not right??? Anybody else having this problem???

The A/C puts quite a load on our small engines. But, I have to use mine quite a bit (when I don't have the top down, looking cool but sweating everywhere... http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif If I think that I am going to run someone, I turn it off for the duration. Otherwise, I'm used to it. At least it cools my car down fast (black interior) and stays cool when it's 115 outside. As far as the compressor coming on every 3-5 seconds... that does sound like a bit much. And my passengers don't notice it when it comes on but I do. Maybe take it in on a hot day and have the shop look at it. Do you have underdrive pullies? Those would probably cause this.

Thanks for the reply, but no, no pulleys...the car has not had a single mod done to it yet. I want to get the car running right (stock) before I go doing stuff to it, that way I better understand the car.

if it is cycling that fast it is a little low on freon. take it in and get it charged.
you still will feel it though. it's less noticable the more hp your motor makes http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
