New Car Owner w/ questions
Well I traded in my 1990 Olds Cutlass and bought a 2000GT. I dont know jack about cars. So I've been pouring over this board for hours.
1. Top mph for stock stang? 2. K&N-estimated HP gain? 3. 87 or 92 octane? This car is a slight improvement over my last car, which I didn't give a rats *** about. I am in love with this one. Thanx for this board and any help. |
1. If you have the 17" wheels with the Z rated tires then there is no top speed limiter, and I would guess a 2000 GT would top out somewhere around 150 or high 140s with a long enough (ie LONG) run up.
2. There's the great running debate about rather or not to remove the intake snorkle. But with just a K&N drop in filter I would not expect any significant gain. A hp? Not enough to notice. Although it is nice to not have to replace the filter. 3. What's the manual say? Mid-grade? As long as its stock there isn't any advantage to running higher then the recomended octane. If you were to get a Steeda timing adjuster then there would be a significant advantage to running with a higher octane. |
Oh, and Congrats on the new purchase. Mustangs are a hell of a lot of fun, aren't they? http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
