Check Engine Light and Fuel Pump Noise

Please help, tonight I got a CEL while at highway speed and when I parked the GT I could hear a whine coming from the fuel tank. Is my fuel pump going out or is it air in the fuel line? the CEL is yellow, not red, so its a emissions fault right? Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about the fuel pump too much. Fuel pumps are known for whining. My 96 did sometimes, too. As well as my Lightning and my 4x4 I had. As for the check engine light I didn't know there were different colors. The light usually just means that the computer is throwing a code. Get the computer scanned and see what the code is. It may or may not be exhaust related.

Thanks for the reply. A tech at Marion Ford told me that a yellow light is emissions (fuel cap not closed, etc.) or exhaust and that red is a hard code, stop engine running immediately. Anyway, you are probably correct, the exhaust had a very string odor to it when I shut the engine down. Try to start it this morning and the battery was down, don't know how that happened. Thanks again for the assist.
