Quarter Mile Times For GT's

I have an Automatic '97 GT Coupe. It is stock except for the removal of the silencer. When I race I shift my car manually. What is a good time for a stock automatic 96-98 GT? What RPM should I shift at for best ET's? By the way, my best time was 15.375 at 89 mph with a 2.006 60 ft time. Can't my car do better than this stock???

Thats sounds right. And you had a great 60ft by the way. Was that on street tires?
For just over $1000, you'll do a lot better: Get a chip from www.customchip.com ($300), a 80mm MAF from a Lightning (have to get that when you get the chip, $100 or less,) some 3:73's (~$400 installed,) and an H or X-pipe ($150-450) and you'll be able to start kicking some *** .

Yeah the tires are street tires. I just deflated them a little. Them seemed to hook pretty good later in the night. I'm probably going to get BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials after winter.

The gear thing is one thing that i think is debatable for 96-98 Gt's. My only concern with 4:10's is that with such a small powerband, I would think too much gear would put you out of it too quick. 1st gear on a 4R70W isn't too bad, but second and third would really benefit from the gears.
I have been debating the samething with my Tbird. With how heavy the car is, I would love 4:10's, but untill I swap in a PI engine, it seems better results have been seen with 3:73's with the Tbird guys.
Anybody have any input for a 96-98 4.6 with 3:73's or 4:10's?

1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Dynomax cat-back, MN-12 perf. offroad downtubes and Y-pipe w/ Magnaflow resonator, 80mm MAF with cone filter, B&M trans cooler, Inject-Tech chip, MAC U/D pulleys, KVR front brake upgrade. 15.2 @ 91 before exhaust & pulleys. Not bad for a 3800lb auto 4.6L
