Non-Mechanical Question

This is a stupid question and it probably belongs in the 'Appearence and Detailing' forum but does anyone know how to remove the trim around the center stack(A/C controls,Radio, etc.) on the dash. It doesn't just pop off like I thought. I know there are two Torx screws to remove but that's not the problem. The trim doesn't clear the radio faceplate and the CD deck when I try to pull it off. Do I have to remove the stereo from dash to take this off? By the way, I have Mach 460 if that makes a difference.

If i remember correctly, which i hardly ever do, there is a screw on the mounting bracket for the stereo that needs to be taken off. It is below the radio, if you take off the little box thingy below the stereo. Hope that helps

I don't have the little box under the stereo because that's where the CD deck is. there are two screws on the trim which I removed but it still doesn't come off. I think I have to remove the stereo and CD player from the dash to remove it. Does anyone know how to do that?

I think you need a special removal tool to get out the stereo OR:
Bend two 9 or 10 inch sections of coat hanger into a handle\half-moon\180 degree turn shape. Something like this: > or this ]

On each side of the stereo should be 2 holes, one on top, one on the bottom. slide each coat hanger into the 2 holes of one side and push... you'll feel a click. The hangers should have released the locking mechanism on each side. Keep the hangers in the holes and pull out the stereo.
This should work....
;)

Yup! You're right Hammer. I'am familiar with the holes you speak of but I didn't know what they were for. Thanks for the help guys!:D
