What is the standard 1/4 time in a 2001 Manual GT

I have a question, what is the average 1/4 time in a 2001 Manual GT? And ... What is the BEST 1/4 time you all have ran in a 99-02 GT STOCK. Please W/B Thanks!

gtsteve 10-02-2002 08:54 PM

The best times I ever seen in a magazine was a 0-60 in 6.0seconds and 14.7 quarter mile in roadandtrack.com type in mustang and go to mustang round up they give you all the times on the mustangs from a GT to a Saleen I just posted a similar post if you read it you'll see what some people replied, they told me to expect to run low 14s

That is crazy talk!;) Those numbers might be right for an automatic but not for a stick. Even for an automatic they're a bit slow. It's just below 6, like 5.8 or 5.9 for 0 to 60 in an automatic and around 14.4 or 14.5 for 1/4 mile. As far as manual is concerned check out car-stats.com, they're very reliable from what I've been told. Even when compared to other publications they're pretty accurate. The manual does 0 to 60 in about 5.4 to 5.5 and does the 1/4 mile in 14 or so.

I just dug up the time slip from when my '00 GT 5-speed was bone stock down to the tires. 14.2@99 with a bad 2.3 60-ft time.

steedamustang01 10-03-2002 10:29 AM

And with a professonal driver, what do you think the BEST TIME you could get out of one in the 1/4 TOTALY STOCK?

toyGT 10-03-2002 10:49 AM

My best was with my 2001 Mustang GT 5 speed

14.0@97mph w/ 2.3 60'

The best i've seen was a friend run with his GT

13.66 @ 98-100mph

This is stock.

I think you are talking about Lizard King. I don't think he ran a 13.66, IMO the tracks clock is not accurate, because he ran a 13.66 at 99mph with like a 2.1 or 2.2 60foot time. The mph just isn't there. He shouldn't running that time with that mph and that 60 foot.

Also, if I remember corectly, he knows a guy who's stock first gen 4.6/auto GT ran mid 14. So that back up my theory about the clocks not being accurate.

With a good driver and good weather conditions high 13's are very possible. My best in stock form was 14.02 @ 97.91 MPH in pretty poor weather conditions. I'd say that 13.7's are very possible given the right conditions.

What is the best weather conditions to race?

MineralGray02K 10-03-2002 12:43 PM

I've read in multiple places that the 2002 GT 5 speed goes 14.0 at 100mph on the dot. I've also seen some crazy people getting stock 02 GT's in the mid-high 13's! Crazy...

It's good weather if it's nice and cold!

Good track, good weather (cold/low humidity/no wind), good driver = high 13's @ 100.

However, most that I see run at my local track are in the low 14's.

LK did get a 13.66 or 13.67 somewhere in Canada.

Tireburner - if ToyGT ran a 14.0 with a 2.3 60-ft time, then it is quite possible that if Lizard King pulled a 2.1 60-ft that he could have run 13.6. General rule of thumb is that every tenth out of the hole is 2 tenths at the other end...

Mustang92 10-04-2002 10:32 AM

Ideal conditions would be 60*, 45% humidity and 30.00 barometer that would be equivalent to sea level reading. Of course different combination of readings will get the same result but that is one example. Lower temps and lower humdity will result in below sea level readings. My point is that with these readings and sea level track you can pull some amazing times.

The times in my sig were done at 2000' above sea level after figuring in weather. So my corrected times are in the 12.48-12.52 range which is easily obtainable with those conditions.

The best I have ever seen one get was a 14.59 @96mph but the track I race at is at 3000ft.

I got a 13.79 with my 01' cobra bone stock @3000ft.

at sea level low 14's are the norm.

Tireburner -

I've gone to 2 different tracks,

1. Luskville (which is a shitty track)

2. Sannair (the best track in canada)

I've ran the same times @ both tracks. I can't break a 2.3 60' and ran several 14.0 @ 97-98 mph

LizardKing (which is one of our local mustang guys), ran a 13.66 and has run SEVERAL (10-12) 13.7x 13.8x runs @ both sanair and luskville.

So it is entirely possible if he has a good 60'..

I know for a fact he's a way better driver than i am, because every time we line up. his 1-2 shift.. (regardless if i'm in the lead or not) makes him jump in front of me.

Oh and we do have a video of his 13.66 run.

steedamustang01 10-04-2002 03:09 PM

Do you have the video of the 13.66 on www.mustangworks.com???? What is the best time to shift in a 2001 GT? At what RPM's ... And should you keep the gas to the floor the whole time? Also how many RPM's should you launch at with stock tires?

burn rubber 10-05-2002 03:00 AM

My best stock run was a 13.8 @101 mph with the headlight out and no spare or jack. Ran it here at capital raceway on a cold day 68*. no wind.

she was running on fumes too. 1/8 tank.

my other two runs were a 13.9
never got a 14

My buddy ran his 02 v-6 5- speed in a killer 15.2 on his stock run.

as you can see from my sig. it doesn't take much too get into the 12's
