High 12's ??

Is there any way a 99 gt can get in to the high 12's N/A with just bolt on performance mods or am I hopeing for to much? what do you guys think?

Well if your real real good with an M5 car and no slicks, you will need to knock off .71 of a second to break the 12 second barrier. If your me then you'll need to knock off 1.51 seconds.

Isn't the rule of thumb 10 hp for every .10 of a second?

If thats the case, then your looking for 80 to 100 hp.

I'm guessing that the best you'll get with pulleys, ignition, cold-air, full exhaust (long tubes), spacer, and a tbody is 30 or 40 hp.

a tbody, no air silencer, and after cat exhaust seems to be worth a whopping 6 hp.

If you mean bolt including heads and cams, then I think you might be able to squeeze some more out of it.

a set of gears will help alot, 3.73's or 4.10's depending on what you want of course.
take some weight out of the car, or even add slicks.

Look in my sig. Nothing but bolt on parts.

What tires were you running to get the 1.76 60 foot?

Its all in the launch... ;)

Yes it is possible. See sig...

Hammer - I'm using Hoosier QuickTimes currently at track and that 1.76 was spinning hard off line.

I only launch at 3000rpm and shallow stage.

Well that explains it!

You're running about similar ETs at 106 mph as I am at 113-115...

Gotta love stock sized street tires and stock control arms...

My 60 ft is whenever I damn well get there... :D

Look at me

I ran low 13's without slicks. Well, when I had my car dyno'd, they said it was one of the highest HP they seen with the mods I have done to it. That just goes to show that the same identical setups can result in different horsepower. Reason for this is because the manufacturer has tolerances for the engine parts. The closer to ideal # that the tolerance is, the more it will produce over one not as close. With slicks I might be able to break into the 12's, on a nice COOL day in ideal conditions, but probably not on a regular basis. One other thing that I noticed. I dropped 1.6 off my time the same night when I took the right headlight assembly off the car. With the C&L setup, its forced cold air to the intake.

Considering the HP difference it would take to reduce an ET by 1.6 seconds on identical runs, I'm thinking a good launch had more to do with it then removing a headlight....

Sure, just take away my thunder why dont you. ;) It did help in the high end though. I think my 60ft was about .3 better, so all in all it did help. Like the pic of that one guy's car who replied with his 12 sec run on add ons. He had the same headlight out using the same mass air I use. Ask him what he thinks.
