repairing rims

Can you repair aluminum wheels or are they too weak after you bend them back? I've got a slightly bent cobra rim that looks like i could get it straight by just a few whacks with the hammer, but i dont want to end up ruining a tire by experimentation. Should i risk repairing it or just buy a new wheel?

Aluminum can not be hammerd it will crack/fracture you need to send it to a rim repair shop that will actually heat the rim in a oven and reform it .but it`s exspensive just buy another rim

what about if you scraped up against a curb and you have a rugged scrape along a part of the lip of the wheel...its the stock bullitt-type on my 02GT....i hate having that 4inch long mark....

Doesn't work too well because the rims are polished. I have an extra rim that I got to keep from when the 95 was in an accident and I've tried taking my dremel to it and I can get it smooth, but the shinny finish is gone.
