Mass Air Meter??????
Just installed the C & L mass air meter on my 97 Mustang GT and the car is still adjusting to it. Does anyone know how long it takes for the computer to adjust to the mass air meter?? What you guys experienced after installing a mass air meter?

mass air flow
you could unhook the battery for a about 20 min and that should reset the computer....
what do you mean the car is still adjusting?? it should be able to read the new sensor just fine could you be more specific???? |
Yea man I just installed it on my 96 mustang gt and it was kinda ruff at first now its cool
|
what you need to do is at night unhook the neg cable from the battery 20 min is not enough to completely clear ford tole me a complete job is done in no less than 12 hours

Thanks for help, I am trying disconnecting the battery. I am not sure but I think the problem I am having may be fuel related. The car is back firing, Anyone have any ideas?? I drive it and it really falls on its face around 4000 rpm???

The symptoms you are having are not normal...
Put the old induction setup back on, clear the computer and drive for a bit... if the car runs normally again, you could have a problem with your C&L setup... |

make sure that the maf meter is turned upright if on the c&l you cant turn it in any direction because the hole isnt in the middle its up top if you have it upside down or sideways or whatever it may cause it to run funny.......

check all connections you loosened, when is it backfiring? off idle or more towards 4000+ RPMS? does it always backfire or only when it is cold? is the meter for stock injectors? if all fails take it to get a new chip burned, but its a waste of money if you ask me. remove the new MAF & sell it on EBAY. put the timing adjuster on the car and bump up the timing, always run premium after the adjuster is set, never run the car on nitrous with the adjuster set to advance the timing youll bow it right up. if you disconnect the new MAF and install the old MAF what happens? remember to set the MSD to remove zero timing when not running nitrous.
keep everything the way you have it, except remove the new MAF and connect the old one. take it to the track and see if there is a difference. no difference=sell new MAF. you dont have a fuel problem. |
Actually just for the record you can reset your battery in under 5 minutes. After disconnecting your battery simply hold down the brake pedal for a few seconds and you will drain the very last bits of power in the chassis via the brake lights. Reconnect battery and your ready to go. The EEC usually takes a good 50-100 miles to adapt to driving conditions.
