Anyone ever install a B&M hammer shifter in there AODE 4.6 GT??
Helping a friend install a b&m hammer shifter in his 97 gt and yea the directions got kinda wet and not readable can anyone lend a hand?? I was thinking it cant be too hard, the shifter cable under the car is right above the h-pipe correct and is help by 2 screws I need to take off I think? The rest is just disconnect and take out the stock shifter and then re-hook everything to the new shifter right??? Before they got ruined I was reading something about I have to splice some wires in and cut some cable or somethin, grrr help, thanks Maybe should just pay to have it done couldnt be that much or HELP hehe thanks

i would try to email B&M (or search their site/the web) and see if they have a .pdf (adobe acrobat) version of the instructions. i bet they have something like that, give them an email/call.

Step 1. Remove automatic transmission from car.
Step 2. install third pedal in drivers foot area. Step 3. Install tko 5 speed transmission. Step 4. Put whatever shifter you'd like, no need to splice anything. Hope that helps. |
Whoa there thats a bit expensive there, I was talkin about just a shifter for a aode

Its actually a 4R70W, not an AODE, but I am just busting balls on that one.
I think ac97gt has the best advice. |

No shame in my automatic. My numbers speak for themselves. The only reason why I haven't done anything else is because I'd have to install a roll cage running under 11.99. I could easily be running low 11's without too many more mods (transbrake, slicks, underdrive pulleys, 50 more shot of nitrous)....My auto toasts most sticks at the track........and I still run STOCK gears.....

The wires that you have to splice are probably for the OD on/off button. It doesn't really matter what way they ae spliced, it is just a momentary button. I would still try to get the instructions from B&M. Don't pay to have it done, part of owning a mustang is working on it yourself.

I got some directions from the pro shop around here and I installed it in like 4 hours on my friends car it wasnt too hard but alot of stuff to do kinda. The 4 main bolts on the whole shifter itself sucked, 3 came out easy and one would budge and i stipped it so i pryed it out with a crow bar (huge ghetto) but thats the only way it was comin out and the new shifter covered the bent up metal underneath, hehe

Maybe you should pay to have stuff done on you car instead...:( ...J/K;)

So, are you going to report back on any improvements?
I am still skeptical about it having any useful purpose. Maybe a positive feedback will enlighten me. sleeper_stang_2000 - The Deuce wasn't dogging auto's, he was just questioning the fact of installing a shifter on a 4R70W. |
There was no other way, this screw would not move, i put some spay on it i mean i was so pissed i tryed for an hour until it was stripped so i lost it and when i pryed it out just that one screw not any other just that one had so much rust on it that it wasnt moving at all no matter what, it was rust welded...

so what are the improvements everyone wants to know? was it worth it? is it blue on black or totally worth it?
|
Dont know, havent really talked to my friend but when I do I'll ask
|
ah. you put it in and didnt get a ride in it right after? you got shafted.
|
Not really his car is stock anyhow, i mean we drove it around the block to see if it worked but that was it nothing special but looks
