Default Problem with 2000 saleen in 3rd gear at 85 mphs.

i have a 200o saleen s281 obviously and i seem to have a problem with it, everytime that i shift into 3rd gear and am on it, pretty good at about 85 mphs and 5400 rpm's (car redlines at 5500) my car really stutters like it's not getting enough fuel i have been told a few different things at first it was a coil ( but that wouldn't seem right, cause it's fine any other time) and now i was told it's probably the fuel rail sensor ( and that it is common on supercharged cars, if you shift through the gears a lot) i was also told that i could just bypass that sensor by putting a return fuel line on my fuel pump, so if anyone could help me out let me know. also my car doesn't do it if i shift into 4th gear at 5200 rpms in third.

Hm....I'll have to think on this one, but sounds like you may have a clogged fuel filter, or some tuning issues. Do you have anymore info?

the car was just tuned and had a sct 2 programmer put in it. the fuel filter has also been changed. it just seems really odd because if i shift into 4th at 83 mphs it'f fine but if i stay in 3rd it does it. just doesn't seem right.

I know tuner cars are totally different but I had a similar issue with a 95 Eclipse Turbo.
My issue first happened when I was running the car boosting 18lb/Psi. It would studder when boost was peaking. I changed the coil, fuel filter, and almost changed the injectors before I decided to check the gap on the spark plugs. Low and behold my gap was too wide. The car ran fine after that until I put in a bigger turbo and was boosting 28lb/Psi. At that point, I had to change the injectors as well as purchased the Bosche 4 prong plugs. An MSD ignition, and new plug wires helped as well.
I know it isn't apples for apples, and I am not in any way as experienced or well versed in mechanical engineering as some of the guys on this site, but I hope that helps,
Narsh

I would check out the universal joints in the drive shaft and see how much play you have. That seems to be the most logical place to start. We have had several in here with the problem you are experiancing and the U joints were indeed bad. Take a look at them and see what you have.
