Gears, exhaust, forum\tech FAQ, and the search tool...

Other than that... Cobra guys... Can you lend a hand here?

Default Snake upgrade

The first two systems I would work on would be the intake and exhaust. Look into some long tube headers w/ shorty H-pipe (BBK?) and a cat back system (Flowmaster, Bassani ?). For the intake...change the throttle body from the stock twin to a single blade..(accufab makes a good one)...get a new MAF (Pro-M) and look into a cold air induction kit. BBK makes a chrome one that really looks good under the hood. Now some ppl say the a metal cold air kit conducts the engine heat more then the stock one, thus warming the air more <--ie. bad. Personally...I don't know. If you don't care for the under the hood dress up and want the hp...get a C&L cold air kit with K&n filter..its plastic, but does the job. After these mods....gears 3.73 or 4.10....pulleys<--you could actually do this first. From there well....how big is your wallet??????

don't take the stock imrc out or waste money porting the intakes. It wont be worth it if you dont do any head work. Otherwise the info you already received is good stuff.

i have a 96 also but mine is black, put up some pics!
anyway, i went high-flow cats (get rid of all those srtock ones), dynomax mufflers (stock catback, didnt see myself wasting all that money for shiny tips) tri-ax shifter (otherwise you WILL blow your t-45 because of thta weak pin) k&n (stock one was dirty) and removed air silencer. next i will probably put gears, maybe pullies or something. i persoally do not like CAI, its a ricer mod and doesnt really do naything for intake, if you do it you will either waste $200 or you should go the home sepot route and use pvc. i talked to svt the other dya on overheating, my engine is fine, but they still gave me some helpful hints because the L is hot in my opinion, when i ru nthe air on max and its 100 outside on my black car i barely touch the a, but stay closer to the r and m on normal days. change your anti-freeze and put fresh half water and half anti-freeze in it. you engine is smart and will not overheat, it will cut off the a/c AUTOMATICALLY if its too hot, then if it gets even hotter it will cut off a bank od cylinders, if it begins to over heat it will go into a safety mode and shut off the engine. sorry about legnth, just a little helpful info for you.

k&n maybe 3-5 hp? if stock one is dirty 10? headers make very little sifference o na near stock one because the stock heaaders are pretty good. your car is rwd so only to the rear wheels, get some 4.10's or 4.30's, you should pick up arond .2-.3 of a sec maybe more i nthe 1/4. leave the intake alone, its not worth $200.

you should join the rice haters club...

I keep hearin long tubes are worth 35 at the wheels, but shortys arent worth it. Bassani will have mid lenghts to check into soon. bout 2 weeks I hear.
