Let's see. Either a chip or a shift improver kit is almost a must-have item. Both would be great. Improver kit will cure the overlap during shifts. Chip can reset the shift points in the AODE. A cooler is also a good idea. They are inexpensive and easy to plumb in. Check with Performance Automatic, Level 10, Trans-Go, etc, for the kit. I personally like AutoLogic chips. If you are on a budget then get the shift kit first. Then the cooler, then the chip.
Good Luck. ------------------ SD Wheeler M/M #30 '98 GT Strictly Performance MV Performance "The Game" |

I just had my trans completely rebuilt with the best parts I could find. The turbo was killing the clutches and destroyed the O/D band. Anyway, I would get a Protorque 2,800-3,000 stall converter, shift kit, Autologic chip, trans cooler and 3.73 gears if you don't have them already. You will definitely want to get some D/Rs because it's a waste of a better converter if you can't launch. Also, you might want to upgrade to a synthetic trans fluid like Redline. Mercon V is good because it's a blend, but you might need to change it more often. The auto can take tons of punishment. From 98-up, Ford got smart and put in a mechanical diode(One way roller for stronger 2nd gear) & Borge warner clutches rated for over 400 hp and 400 lb-ft.
