That is not normal or good. Maybe the guy didnt shim it right for the new gears. I would have another shop listen to it and see what they think. If they say the other shop screwed up then I would see about having that shop fix it and send the original shop the bill. More than likely though they are going to make you take it back to who did the work and let them fix it. Good luck.
