Lightbulb Recall on '99 GT Pro-M MAF

There is a recall on the Pro-M MAF for the 1999 Mustang. Apparently, the first lot of these units were sent to retailers with calibration for a 98 GT. You can return your unit for a free recalibration to Pro-Flow - Contact Pro-Flow @248.399.9223 or on the web: http://www.pro-flow.com/recall.htm for more info.

The recalibration makes a huge difference!
Good luck!

This is true. I sent mine back a few weeks ago and I just got it back a few days ago and it works fine. My meter actually came calibrated for a 96GT which was way too lean.

I just sent mine back yesterday. My car went 13.71 @ 100.69 on the factory goodyears before recalibration. Do you know how much it helped?

I honestly couldn't tell you from a performance standpoint, but from a driveability standpoint, it's much better. No more pinging and no more stalling after 100+ runs.

On the dyno, the Pro-M unit lost 2 HP and 7lb/ft torque over the stock unit. (Before recalibration) I just got mine back 11/15 and what a big difference! It's enough to feel, especially on the high end - say 5-10 RW HP?

I ran 13.839 @99.1 MPH on radials without the unit and I'm going to make a few passes at the track this saturday. I will let you know the results.

I won't be able to supply a dyno test for the MAF - I just don't have the money to put the car on a dyno again this year. The next time the car goes on the Dyno, it will be next year after the exhaust gets hung.

If anyone has a before and after dyno test for the MAF let me know!

Exam . . .Saw note about Vortech in Y2K. Unless there is a miracle worker out there and I haven't found him yet, Pro-M and Vortec creates real lean conditions. Had to pull mine off and send back for refund.

Superchips, Steeda and several others cannot seem to get detonation problems straightened out.

Seem the ECM in 99's are way too smart, find their way back home in two weeks or less even with chip.

Hey with all the HP you'll be gettinf whos needs that Pro-M anyways!

I was honestly thinking of going with the Speedlab blower used on the Saleen S281 because Saleen actually re-burns the board which is much better, but because of my converter, I would be launching the car at about 3,000 rpms and 410 ft lbs. It would be quite difficult to get it off the line. The plus is there are much less tuning problems that way and it is a much cleaner fit with no hoses and tubes. I thought the Vortech kit comes with a Pro-M77 and 30 lb injectors. I will have to do more research.
