Default Aftermarket Tach ??S

I want to add an Autometer tach. Are there different tachs for 4-6-8 cylinders? Or, are they universal.

What do they tap into? A distributor wire?

Thanks, as you can tell I have no experience at all with this stuff.

The autometer tachs are universal and they hook into a distributor wire. The directions were good from autometer. You shouldn't have any problem. Good luck.

It will have a wire to run to the coil, a ground wire, a power wire for the tach and a power wire for the light in the tach, I ran this one to the fuse for the dash lights so i can dim it with the dash light dim switch.

good luck,
-Drew

Make sure you connect it to a good ground on the engine or else the readings will bounce all over the place.
My stock tach didn't work with my MSD ignition so I bought a 2 5/8" silver Sport Comp tach and put it in an a-pillar pod, I think it's a cool setup anyways.

Cool. I just got some new back tires mounted (big difference in traction). I may end up driving to the track tomorrow myself. I still need to do a little tuning.
