Saleen Pulleys
 

Hey Guys,

My brother and I installed the Saleen underdrive pulleys the other day on my '02 GT and I have a question regarding the stock dampner.

Unfortunately, Saleen provided us the wrong crank bolt and after searching many hardware stores and not finding the bolt, we decided to not install the stock dampner. We just installed the new crank pulley. I've been running the 'Stang like this for the last few days and have not noticed any problems. What problems could occur by running the car like this? Is it necessary to install the stock dampner to the new crank pulley?

There's a reason it's called a "Harmonic" Damper

It dampens harmoic vibrations that can totally destroy certain parts of your engine's rotating assmby. Put it back on ASAP or Drive at your own risk.....

The harmonic balancer, or vibration damper, is a device connected to the crankshaft to lessen the torsional vibration. When the cylinders fire, power gets transmitted through the crankshaft. The front of the crankshaft takes the brunt of this power, so it often moves before the rear of the crankshaft. This causes a twisting motion. Then, when the power is removed from the front, the halfway twisted shaft unwinds and snaps back in the opposite direction.
