Shifting Problem

I have a 2000 Ford Mustang GT Conv. w/65k miles. I can't get it to go into reverse and I have trouble accessing 1st & 2nd gears when down shifting from 3rd, 4th & 5th. I am able to access 1st & 2nd gears after I motion like I'm going to put it in 5th gear, but I don't have to actually put it in 5th gear in order for it to losen up in N while I move it towards 1st & 2nd. Please let me know what the problem is and what needs to be done to correct it.

Can anyone help me fix my pony???

My guess and I emphsize guess would be syncronizers.

Thanks, GodStang! I left my pony at the dealership yesterday and they told me they thought it was the syncronizers too. They said they needed to take the transmission apart today to get to the problem and that it should be covered under my warranty.

Do you know what it would cost to repair the syncronizers?

Let me know.

Thanks, again!

I feel much better now. :-)

I could not give you an exact cost but at $ 70.00 an hour labor if they remove/replace the tranny you are talking about $ 700.00 to start ( just a guess ). Be glad you have a warranty.
