12's are possible with bolt ons on a GT but it also takes sticky tires, which leads to built rear end which leads to suspension work, etc... With a Cobra you can get there on DR's and bolts ons if you can drive.
As for a 4v head swap it's just not worth it when you consider you will need new pistons and crank just to keep the correct compression ratio and be able to rev to 7K RPM to take advantage of the better breathing heads.
