No you are reading that right. Just to make every thing easy look at your rear and it has a little tag on it. It should say weather it is 2.72, 3.08, 3.27, or 12.13(J/K). Than do the formual given before. Just look at what your rpms are now at a given speed and multiply that by the new gear ratio divided by the old ratio. For example:
2500rpm x (3.73/3.27) = new rpm at given speed.

It is the best way to find RPMS. Also if you go to some of the analyziers you can but what rpms at what speed you want and it will tell you what is the best gears to get.
