![]() I just recieved this months copy of MM&ff magizne and they had a contest between the newest comaro SS and the new '03 cobra. The thing that surprised me most was the chassis dyno results.
The first pull was without changing anything, 381 RWHP and 374 lbs-ft, They then said how Ford had to put a very restricting air silencer on it so the new cobra would pass niose regulations. They then removed it and did another pull...... 394 RWHP and 375 lbs-ft!!! If you take into account a 12% drivetreain loss thats 448 flywheel horse power! thats an extra 13 rwhp from a free mod, Just imagine what a new pulley for the S/C would do. o by the way the SS made 317 RWHP.

![]() A Z-06 runs low 12's. It has nothing to fear from a new Cobra(both drivers being equal). However, with a few mods...

![]() Those dyno numbers are STD corrected, not SAE. I've heard that the STD numbers are usually a bit higher and use a different set of atmospheric conditions than the SAE. It's just that most people use the SAE correction when they quote their dyno results and I don't know how different the results would be.

![]() A guy on one of the Viper forums bought a 03 Coupe, and a 03 Vert. Must be nice to be completely loaded.
Anyway, he beat the coupe to a 12.3@118mph by removing the spare tire, jack, and running with like a 1/4 tank. He posted timeslips and they showed he was able to rip off a sub 2.0 60ft with the damn thing. Must be a hell of a driver. He stated his other runs were in the 115mph area, he just took it up higher on the 118 run. |

![]() MM&FF already changed the pulley on the '03 Cobra and had it at Englishtown, NJ about 3 weeks ago. That bad boy went 12.0@116 on the very first run, on the Goodyear F1s! After that run, they put N/T on the window...oh well.

![]() Its in the August issue, Its the one with the comaro SS and the cobra on the cover. on MM&FF's website they are only showing July's issue as they should since its still june.
Were you at E-town when they were racing the cobra? Do you know what issue it will be in, maybe you talked to them?

![]() I was in E-Town, but they weren't giving up much info...I think it takes 3 months for things to go to print, so look for it in September or October's issue...
It looked just like the one they have in the August issue.....same purplish-blue. |
